Cool Schools coordinators learned how peer mediation can contribute to human rights learning at their conference in Taupo. As with many behavioural management and peace building programmes existing in New Zealand's schools, the links between the peer mediation techniques learnt in 'Cool Schools' and a human rights-based approach to education proved to be numerous.
