Students develop skills to find out and analyse information critically and learn about the importance of  valuing the personal contribution of every citizen in a democracy. This more complex activity is a simulation of a meeting between an employer and employees together with their trade union representatives to negotiate wages and conditions. The issues addressed include the role of trade unions, the collective bargaining in the workplace and workers' rights. Discussion activity in which people explore their experiences of inter-personal violence. Students should be able to identify oneself not only as an object of violence but also as someone who could be a source of violence and are encouraged to deal with violence in positive ways. This role-play activity deals with issues of rights in the workplace and discrimination against women in the workplace and develops knowledge about women’s reproductive rights. In this activity  students gain an understanding of the difficulties and processes involved in treaty negotiations. It will help them to appreciate the relationship between establishing a code of rights & responsibilities, and  living up to an agreed standard of behaviour within everyday occurences. With an emphasis on group participation in the creation and protection of rights, an agreed set of rules and responsibilities is established for the group.
